Slovaks are Ahead of Czechs - Visa Waiver Requirements Accomplished (Slovaci jsou Popredu pred Cechy – Podminky pro Zruseni Viz Splneny)

October 9, 2008

Clanek v CESTINE dole.

Today, the Slovak republic president, Ivan Gasparovic, and the president of the United States, George Bush, met in Washington in the White House. They discussed the Visa Waiver Program (VWP) as well as the financial crisis and steps that need to be taken in order to overcome it.

The major requirement for eligibility for this program is to reach no more than 10 percent of rejected visa applications, which Slovakia achieved. Also, Slovakia provided fingerprints and DNA profiles of all convicted criminals that won’t be allowed to enter the United States. Bush stated that Slovakia made the major step in order to cancel visas to the US and he declared that the official announcement could be as soon as in the middle of November.

The Czech Republic did not fulfill this requirement yet but the Czech politicians believe the VWP will be announced on November 17th, which is the anniversary of the Velvet Revolution. Other countries that are in the process of being included in the VWP are Hungary, Estonia, Lithuania, and Latvia.

Both presidents also talked about the economic situation in the USA and the need to create an economic coalition with other European partners. Bush also thanked Gasparovic for sending troops to Afghanistan that will help to bring democracy to this country. Finally, Gasparovic mentioned that today’s Slovak-American relations are the best since the establishment of the Slovak Republic.

Diskutovali o bezvizovem programu a take o financnich krizich a nutnych krocich k jejich prekonani.

Slovensko take poskytlo otisky prstu a DNA profily odsouzenych zlocincu, kterym bude zabraneny vstup do USA.

Oba prezidenti take hovorili o ekonomicke situaci v USA a potrebe k vytvoreni ekonomicke koalice s evropskymi partnery. Bush take dekoval slovenskemu prezidentovi za vyslani vojaku do Afganistanu, kteri pomohou prinest do teto zeme demokracii.
