Clanek v CESTINE dole (Kliknete na “Read the rest of this entry”)

In our last article we mentioned that the Czech government has pledged 10 million crowns in the regeneration of the Cedar Rapids Czech Village, Iowa. Last week, Czech Ambassador Petr Kolar visited Cedar Rapids to pass on financial support from the Czech Republic in the value of $ 583,780. That moment was very important for everybody in the city, because it will help in returning the Czech village to its original condition.

The Czech and Slovak Museum will receive $405,380; Sokol $89,000; St. Wenceslas Catholic Church $44,700; and the Public Library $44,700. The museum also obtained funds from 44 U.S. states totaling about $300,000. The U.S. government so far did not contribute to the restoration of the museum and library.

 
Gail Naughton, director of the museum, believes that this important visit will encourage others to support the rebuilding of the museum. It is not yet sure whether the museum will re-open on the same site or it will be moved to another part of the town, but the wish is to keep it in the Czech Village.

Minuly tyden cesky velvyslanec Petr Kolar navstivil Cedar Rapids a predal financni pomoc ceske republiky v hodnote 583.780 USD.  Tento moment byl velmi vyznamny pro vsechny obcany mesta, protoze pomuze v navraceni Ceske vesnice do jeho puvodni podoby.

Ceske a Slovenske muzeum ziska 405.380 USD; Sokol 89,000 USD;  Catolicky kostel Svateho Vaclava 44.700 USD a verejna knihovna 44.700 USD. Muzeum take ziskalo financni prostredky z 44 statu v USA v hodnote okolo 300.000 USD. Americka vlada zatim neprispela k obnove muzea a knihovny.

Gail Naughton, reditelka muzea, veri, ze tato vyznamna navsteva povzbudi ostatni k podpore obnovy muzea. Jeste neni jiste, jestli se museum znovu otevre na stejnem miste a nebo bude premisteno do jine casti mesta, ale vsichni si preji aby zustal v ceske vesnici.
