Public research in the Czech Republic showed that most Czechs do not agree with the American radar base. Many politicians are also upset and are against it. The U.S. financial support is still sent to the Czech Republic for research. Will the U.S. radar base be built then? We have to wait another couple of months.

Roughly two thirds of Czechs are against the U.S. base. Many of them also hope that the future American president Obama will revoke it. Some politicians plan to meet with him in person to talk about the base. The Czech parliament is going to vote on the Czech-American radar treaty in December, but the U.S. government plans to send $600,000 to Czech universities and research institutes in the Czech Republic for research related to anti-radar technologies.

It is still uncertain whether the radar will be approved by the Czech parliament. ODS is for the base and CSSD is against it. Czechs already received many gifts and benefits from the United States - such as the Czech LT-35 tank and visa-free travel to the United States. The General Henry Obering, the U.S. Missile Defense Agency head, has already called on Obama to continue planning to build the U.S. bases in Europe. Now we have to wait for the situation in the Czech Parliament and the decision of the new government led by Barack Obama.

Verejny vyzkum v ceske republice ukazal, ze vetsina Cechu nesouhlasi s americkou protiraketovou zakladnou. Mnoho politiku se take bouri a jsou proti. Americane presto posilaji financni prostedky do ceske republiky pro ceskou vedu. Bude tedy zakladna vybudovana? Musime si jeste par mesicu pockat.

Proti radarove zakladne jsou zhruba dve tretiny lidi. Mnoho Cechu take doufa, ze budouci americky president Obama ji zrusi a nekteri cesti politici se chystaji s nim o zakladne osobne hovorit. V prosinci bude cesky parlament volit o vybudovani cesko-americkae zakladny, ale americka vlada jiz posle 600.000 USD pro vyzkum souvisejici s radarovou technologii do ceskych univerzit a vyzkumnych ustavu.
