Zora Pergl Blanche-Cary

It is with great sadness that we pass on to you the information that our dear friend Zora Blanche Pergl-Cary passed away suddenly and unexpectedly from heart failure and other complications. Zora was an American with a Czech heart. She really loved her heritage and many people of both Czech and Slovak origin loved her bubbling personality and her passion for Czech culture, music, language, cuisine and more. Everybody loved her cute newsletter that she creatively named The Dumpling Newsletter.

Zora’s newsletter was a form of her expression of her creative mind and giving heart. We only had a chance to get to know her through the internet but that was enough for us to realize what a great person she was and how much she cared about others. When she became our partner and friend she encouraged us to continue on our mission to introduce our heritage to the world. She never thought of us as competition and always offered her help.

Her lovely daughter Lora Cary was kind enough to tell us a little bit more about her so we could share it with you as well. Zora’s favorite song was Ave Maria and that is why we play this song in her honor. She also loved images of Prague in the winter when it was snowing and we looked very hard to find a photo that she would love as well. We believe we found it. At the end of the article you can also find Prague videos that she liked to watch.

Lora also wrote a nice message that she would like to share with you too:
“Zora was an amazing mother to me and an even better grandmother to my daughter. Both Nymani (my daughter) and I love and miss her very much and are trying to find our way in life without her, being that she was always there for the both of us. My mother, daughter and I shared a very special bond that was more than just your regular blood line; we were and always will be best friends. Our lives have been left with a huge void in them with her passing but we find solace in knowing that she is resting in peace. On behalf of my grandparents George & Lumira Pergl, my daughter Nymani Reeves, and myself we want to thank everyone for all of their kind words and condolences.”

We also wanted to write something from our heart and here is a poem that we wrote just for her in her honor (unfortunately only in the Czech language):

Život je krásný,
ale plný zvratů.
Někdy příliš krátký
s cestami bez návratu.

I když cestu ztratí
naši milovaní,
my víme, že se vrátí
a budou zase s námi.

And we know that Zora is still with us now in our memories and our hearts. As her daughter said: “I know that she is looking down and smiling on all of us and relishing all the attention.”

Just before she passed away, she shared with us and thousands of dumpling news readers her last gift - her Christmas recipe book that we are attaching here for you to enjoy and keep in her memory.

Snowing in Prague (www.pbase.com)

S velkým smutkem vám musíme oznámit, ze naše drahá přítelkyně Zora Blanche Pergl-Cary náhle a nečekaně zemřela na selhání srdce spojené s dalšími komplikacemi. Zora byla Američanka s českým srdcem. Opravdu milovala její původ a mnoho lidí českého i slovenského původu milovali její bublající osobnost a její vášeň pro českou kulturu, hudbu, jazyk, kuchyň a další. Každý miloval její roztomilý informační bulletin, s tvořivým názvem The Dumpling Newsletter.

Její bulletin byl formou pro vyjádření jejího tvůrčího ducha a velkého srdce. My jsme jen měli možnost se seznámit s ní pomocí internetu, ale to stačilo na to, abychom si mohli uvědomit, jaká to byla skvělá osoba a jak pečovala o ostatní. Když se stala naším partnerem a přítelem vyzývala nás, abychom pokračovali v našem poslání - představení našeho kulturního dědictví celému světu. Nikdy se na nás nedívala jako na konkurenci a vždy se snažila pomoci.

Její milá dcera, Lora Cary, byl laskavá a pověděla nám něco více o ní. Její nejoblíbenější písnička byla Ave Maria, a proto v tomto článku hrajeme tuto skladbu v její cti. Zora také miloval obrázky z Prahy v zimním období když sněžilo. Těžce jsme hledali fotografii, která by se jí líbila, ale věříme, že jsme ji našli. Na konci článku můžete také najít dvě videa z Prahy, na které se ráda dívala.

Lora také napsala krásné slova, které by také chtěla s vámi sdílet:
“Zora byla úžasná matka a ještě lepší babička. Oba Nymani (moje dcera) a já jsme ji měli velmi rádi a bude nám moc chybět. Snažíme se najít způsob, jak žít bez ní, což je velmi těžké, protože tu byla vždy pro nás obě. Moje matka, dcera a já jsme sdíleli velmi zvláštní pouto, které bylo více, než jen naše krev. Byli jsme, a vždycky budeme, nejlepší přátelé. Cítíme nyní velkou prázdnost v našich životech, ale utěšujeme se s vědomím, že teď odpočívá v pokoji. Jménem mých prarodičů George & Lumira Pergl, mé dcery Nymani Reeves i já osobně bych vám všem chtěla poděkovat za všechny něžná slova a soustrast. ”

Také jsme chtěli napsat něco z našeho srdce a proto jsme složili tuto báseň na její počest:

Život je krásný,
ale plný zvratů.
Někdy příliš krátký
s cestami bez návratu.

I když cestu ztratí
naši milovaní,
my víme, že se vrátí
a budou zase s námi.

A my víme, že Zora je stále s námi v našich vzpomínkách a srdcích. Lora také řekla: “Vím, že se dívá na nás dolu a usmívá se na nás všechny a těší se z naší pozornosti.”

Těsně před tím než zemřela, podělila se s námi a tisíci dalšími čtenáři The Dumpling Newsletter o její poslední dárek - její vánoční kuchařka, kterou jsme zde pro vás přiložil pro vaše potěšení a také na vzpomínku na Zoru.
