Czechs Bring 20% of Internet to Its Knees (Češi Položili 20 Procent Internetu na Lopatky)

February 27, 2009

Článek v ČEŠTINĚ dole (Klikněte na “Read the rest …”)

Where does the Internet start and where does it end? The Internet is as mysterious to some as the Universe. As a single user, you can’t tell how many people are using it, where they live, or what they are using it for. You just know they are out there. If you work for an Internet service provider company, chances are you already know much more about how the Internet works than most. Moreover, you could take control over the Internet and maybe prevent others from accessing it. This actually happened in one small Czech company and a tiny mistake blocked interned access to one fifth of its users around the whole world.

The incident happened last week on Monday and caused an Internet outage mostly in Spain, Belgium, New Zealand, Egypt, China, and the USA. An employee of an Internet service provider company SuproNet in Uhersky Brod made a careless but simple mistake when setting up a server. Even though the error was removed after fifteen minutes, the world network did not recover as quickly and part of the Internet was down almost one hour in many places of the world.

During that hour, people were not able to browse websites, download music, videos, check and send emails, or make payments and purchases online. Some countries were able to ignore this mistake, because they had newer server models. Ironically, the Czech Republic was not affected at all.

Kde Internet začíná a kde končí?

Internet Instability After (Internetová Nestálost Poté) www.renesys.com

K incidentu došlo minulý týden v pondělí a způsobil kolaps internetu převážně ve Španělsku, Belgii, Novém Zélandě, Egyptu, Číně a USA.

Během této hodiny, lidé nebyli schopni navštívit webové stránky, stahovat hudbu, video, přijímat a posílat e-maily, nebo provádět platby a nákupy online.
