Slovak President Re-Elected! (Znovuzvolení Slovenského Prezidenta!)

April 6, 2009

Článek v ČEŠTINĚ dole (Klikněte na “Read the rest …”)

Finally, the “election fever” in Slovakia is over and the country can welcome its re-elected incumbent Ivan Gasparovic. As you may already know, Gasparovic was running for the Slovakian President post against Iveta Radicova. The first round of the election ended up with 46.71 percent of votes for Gasparovic and 38.05 percent for Radicova. The second election round resulted in the majority of the votes (55.53 percent) for the current president and 44.47 percent for his opponent.

The Slovaks can finally rest since the election is over. It was a tough competition between both candidates. If you are interested you can visit the web pages of both candidates (links at the end of our article). Be aware, though, because even their sites can provide you with incorrect or misleading information. Why? Gasparovic’s site was already hacked during his run for presidency. The site was only changed in its header where its title was changed from “Myslim narodne, citim socialne” (“I think national, I feel social”) to “Myslim socialne a citim socialne a myslim narodne” (“I think social and I feel social and I think national”). Zuzana Martinakova’s site (another presidential candidate) was changed more dramatically since all public articles could be edited by anybody who visited the site during the time it was vulnerable.

Slovakia is not the only country where these mishaps occurred during a presidential election. For example, Barack Obama’s site was also hacked. Below you can watch a YouTube video, where links on Obama’s site were redirected to a site of one of his opponents, Hillary Clinton.

If you are interested in more details about Slovak president election, you can find more details in English right HERE.
