Czech Football in Crisis (Český Fotbal v Krizi)

April 8, 2009

Článek v ČEŠTINĚ dole (Klikněte na “Read the rest …”)

The Czech national football team is going through a crisis. The recent elimination of six players and their coach, Petr Rada, may change the team appearance and its performance, but there may be more things that need to be fixed to make the team as strong as they used to be in the past. Why were these players sacked, and Rada dismissed? Does the Czech football team have a chance to get to the World Cup 2010 competition?

Something is going on with the Czech football team. It seems that with the absence of Nedved and Poborsky the team spirit and motivation to fight for victory have diminished. The trainer alone cannot keep the team together. Moreover, it only takes the misbehavior of one individual to spoil it for the rest of the team. The recent behavior of the six eliminated players did not show the team in the best light.

It is hard to understand why Ujfalusi, Sverkos, Fenina, Baros, Kovac, and Matejovsky celebrated their loss to the Slovak football team (1:2) in a bar “U Sevce Matouse” and then gambled with prostitutes. This was not, however, their first time they were caught by the paparazzi behaving inappropriately. Ujfalusi actually quit on his own the day before the other five players were fired. According to iDNES, Matejovsky was disappointed in the elimination and stated that he “was in the wrong place at the wrong time.” He also showed interest in re-joining the team if a new coach would appoint him to join the team again.

Even after the loss with Slovakia, the coach Petr Rada was motivated to continue in building a strong team. He stated that he had nothing to do with the disappointing behavior of the players. Today, however, during a meeting with the members of the Czech Football Association, he “agreed to leave” the team due to poor team results. Looking in the past, the team has won only two out of eight games since July 2008, when Rada replaced the former coach Karel Bruckner.

The team has a tough future ahead of them. During the qualification for the World Cup 2010, the team only collected eight points during the six games they have played in. Now, they will have to win all the remaining qualifiers to compensate for their poor results in the past. Does the team have a chance to recover from the bad reputation? Rada has already complained that the Czech public turned their backs on the team. Will the new coach save the team and bring back a positive spirit to the team and inspire the public to root for them again? What do you think?

I think changes are always for the better, this is the way development is taking place. everything will depend on the coach and his own belief in success. if he is able to put this belief into thr players everything will be all right.
